Nurturing Yoga Retreat for Women Lanzarote 16 – 23 March 2019

Early early bird offer for March 2019 if you book by 30th April 2018

Gina is a great teacher, professional, very people orientated, loving and kind. It was my first retreat experience and I loved every minute of it. Gina’s compliments of my posture made me feel lifted and proud! A great sense of achievement.

Lanzarote and the retreat venue

Have you been to the Canary Islands yet? They are a group of volcanic islands set off the North African coast. Lanzarote is the most unique and exquisite of them all, with an energy that feels like it meets you from the centre of the earth. Lying 86 miles from the south coast of Morocco, the island has warm and sunny weather all year round. This beautiful video is such a heart warming, feel good glimpse of what Lanzarote has to offer.

Villa Amatista retreat centre is  located in the heart of Lanzarote and the unspoilt countryside and vineyards of La Geria, a protected area and very privileged position that allows you to easily visit all the attractions that Lanzarote offers.  From here it takes only about 20 to 30 minutes by car to get everywhere.

It has large organic gardens with fruit trees, vegetables and Aloe Vera. Solar panels heat the water and water-recycling and composting take place, making this a very eco-conscious, soft footprint of love on the island. The harmonious and peaceful atmosphere supports inner and outer transformation. You are in for a treat as this volcanic island has a very unique energy!

The Retreat focus

Gina’s USP is all about nurture from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. Reviewed by the prestigious Queen of Retreats in 2016, Gina has been described as the non woo woo girl next door and she has a warm Earth Mother vibe about her. She welcomes you from head to heart to experience a week away from life so you can reflect, find the way back home to you, your calling, your essence and what makes you happy. This is a simple week with lots of time to talk and connect with the group or be silent and walk in nature. It’s your week to do the things that make you smile. Simplicity and time being the gifts of love just for you.

The details

As always I have loved being in the zone with G. I learn, relax and always go home with a sense of calm, peace and joy and realigned to a more healthy state of mind. These retreats are not just about the body and practise, they touch the mind, body and soul in a gentle nurturing way which I simply adore.

The things that make it special

As well as the energy of this beautifully peaceful location and the nourishing body loving food journey, Gina offers you the following:

  • Holistic lomi lomi massage with a local medicine woman (an incredible experience!)

  • One to one Yoga time to be heard and listened to  – Either relationship coaching, crystal healing or a private guided meditation in your room will be offered.

  • Evening Yoga Nidra sessions before bed

  • Sunrise gatherings

  • Lots of hugs and love everyday on your mat

What to bring

Leave the make-up and high heels behind and bring your most nurturing light and comfy clothes. You can go to Yoga and dinner in your wooly socks and big cardy and not have to worry about your appearance for the week. A shawl is recommended for quieter practises. The weather can be changeable in March so bring a bikini or two but comfy pants and sweatshirts to keep warm in the evenings. You will get a reminder of other things to bring in the build up to retreat time, but the emphasis is on super chilled, natural and easy.

Our gorgeous chef

FB chefLove Soup founder Francesca Baldassari is pure delight inside and out. She is an internationally recognised chef who has been cooking and preparing the perfect compliment to Yoga at Villa Amatista for many years.

She says:

‘Practising Yoga and other kinds of disciplines and arts myself, I know how important it is to nourish the physical body and to keep the nervous system balanced. Balancing  the six major tastes, combining the properties of the ingredients, using gentle and mindful cooking techniques and offering beauty has  proven to me to be the way to satisfy both physical and neurological requirements.’

When you try Francesca’s food you realise that most of  the things that we eat are so fake. Your taste starts a journey in the past , you rediscover a sensorial authentic world. That’s why Francesca’s food is like pure light delivered from the heart.

Travel information

Trip Advisor is a very good source of information regarding travel/transfers from all major airports to Lanzarote.

Flights:

Please book early for best deals. Arrecife is the only airport on Lanzarote. It’s a very popular airport with many flights a day from many countries, all year round. Please shop around for the best deals, but you can try this Skyscanner.net to compare prices and airlines.

Transfers:

It’s a very easy 25 minute cab ride across Lanzarote’s unique volcanic landscape to the retreat venue. Please contact Gina if you would like to hook up with others guests to share costs. A minibus/cab can be arranged from the airport with San Bartolomé cabs.

Car hire:

For your freedom and convenience it is recommended you hire a car either for the week or for your day off on the Wednesday. Please search online for the best deals as this year we are not recommending any preferred hire company as pries change so much year by year.

Contact Gina if you would like to share car hire costs with another guest.

Things to do

Our groups enjoy the absolute tranquillity of the retreat as well as the pleasure to discover such a diverse island. Having a car is the best and most comfortable way to enjoy the unique volcanic landscape.

On your day off Gina will advise a group day out or explore for yourself. Please research online but here are some great places to visit:

  1. Magnificent Playa Famara and the fishing village. Famara is a popular yet wild surfing spot. The beach is immense, you can walk it for hours and be delighted by the amazing sunsets. The village has many surf schools and fish restaurants as well as a stunning view on the Soo Desert.

  2. The ancient capital of Teguise is very worth a visit for the picturesque atmosphere, the typical Sunday market, the ancient castle and the cosy bars where you can enjoy one of the specialities of Lanzarote: the volcanic white wine!

  3. Volcanic National Park of Timanfaya in the south of the island. Take a tour  around the awe inspiring volcanic landscape.

  4. Playa Blanca in the south is a great little town to explore as well as the wonderful beaches of Papagayo, Playa Mujeres, famous for the blue waters and white sands.

  5. There are many more natural and cultural attractions: Jameos del Agua , La Cuevas de los Verdes , Mirador del Rio, Haría, Los Hervideros, the Cesar Manrique’s architectures.

Lanzarote is a fulfilling destination that offers a great balance between entertainment, culture, nature, peace and inner renewal.
